LANDSCAPE: “EISENHUTTENSTADT”

GERMANY  •  28′

a movie by JEAN LOïC PORTRON

Eisenhüttenstadt is located on the fringes of Brandeburg, 60 miles east of Berlin. The city awes its name to the EisenhüttenKombinat Öst, the largest metallurgical factory in East Germany. After the war there were hopes of building a model factory town where a new society, another future, could be forget. The first socialist city. The fail of the Berlin wall turned everything upside down but the landscapes seemed not to change. Eisenhüttenstadt appears frozen in time. In spite of appearances, however, the town didn’t escape the upheavals unscathed.
