CAMBODIA

a film by PIERRE ALAIN MEIER

Fifteen years after the murderous Khmer rouge, the Cambodian film-maker Rithy Panh returns to his land to make the film “Rice People”. During four years of terror, tens of thousands of children were killed. The survivors among them Rithy Panh, were robbed of their childhood. Danyda, Mary, Sopheary, Kourou and Sodany, the five young actresses of the film, portray the happiness of being loved and the fear of being abandoned.
